Breaking the 8 lb. barrier

For those of you still checking this page, my apologies for the lack of updates. Once everything calmed down I went back into lazy mode.

Anyhoo..

Back on the 8th of April, Lyra underwent a cardiac catheterization. She's a real trooper and although she was pretty bruised by a number of failed attempts to access her femoral vein, she was discharged the following morning directly from the PICU.

The Cardiologist who performed the procedure explained that they managed to baloon one section of the pulmonary artery, near the area where the shunt was placed, that had become a bit too narrow. With that done it has helped increase her oxygen saturation so that she's now able to be off oxygen, at least mostly. Her regular Cardiologist has recommended that we put the oxygen on at night, which is okay, she's generally fine with having it on then.

The nice thing about her being off oxygen, other than the reduced level of logistics that goes into moving her around, even just within the house, is that her skin is a lot clearer.

The other good news is that she's over 8 pounds. At her latest doctor's visit on Monday, she weighed 8lbs. 2oz. It's a relief to see her gaining weight because she seems to eat pretty well, if a little erratically, i.e. mostly every 3 hours, but then sometimes gets hungry after 2 hours or falls asleep for 4 hours.

There's new pictures in the gallery and I think I have more to add as well, so stay tuned.
